This Symposium is organized and held by the Korea University Medicine, Korea and UniMedIT, Germany. Korea is a leading country for IT and communication solutions and is a leader in innovation in healthcare, clinical research and bio-tech. Korea University Medicine is taking the lead in the Fourth Industrial Revolution with the Precision Medicine Hospital Information System (P-HIS) Development Group) selected to participate in national strategic projects worth a total of KRW 76.9 billion (approximately KRW 62.4 billion by the government, KRW 14.6 billion by the private sector) and run by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The P-HIS Development Project Group work on establishing a cloud-based hospital information system (HIS) to utilize ICT in the integration and analysis of various medical data. The new system will be introduced in medical institutes at home and abroad, allowing massive amounts of data to be collected for precision medicine. UniMedIT is a subsidiary enterprise of VUD (Verband der Universit채tsklinika Deutschlands) and MFT (Medizinischer Fakult채tentag) with the mission to enhance and innovate Health IT at the German academic hospitals and medical faculties as it relates to patient care, clinical research and medical education and training.

This collaboration represents a strategic partnership to advance digitization, interoperability and international collaboration. Cloud4Health caters to decision-makers in every healthcare sector CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, CMIOs, doctors, nurses, healthcare policymakers and experts in science and research. The Cloud4Health Symposium is an international event combining experts from healthcare, academy and healthcare regulation offering a wide range of opportunities for interaction and knowledge exchange. About Cloud4Health

Cloud storage and cloud computing has changed how IT is used in different systems and sectors across the world. Adoption in the healthcare sector is widespread in many countries, such as Korea, and has advanced many aspects of how patient care is delivered and how clinical research is conducted, including data analysis and utilization for AI-based approaches.

However, implementation and use in the German speaking countries Germany, Swiss and Austria (D-A-CH) is still very limited resulting in data silos and an inability to provide continued care.

Korea has historically faced a similar situation where each hospital had developed their own home-grown hospital information system. While the level of digitization of hospital processes is high, cross-institutional data exchange and interoperability is lacking. Therefore, the Korea government initiated the Cloud EHR initiative in 2017, led by Korean University Medicine, to create a cross-hospital information system.

The goal of the Cloud4Health symposium is to analyze the current status of each country and highlight the respective peculiarities regarding cloud adoption and usage and to learn from each country's experience. Current barriers and obstacles will be identified and dissected, such as demand for high data protection levels, a lack of standards and interoperability and the need for an adequate regulatory framework to harmonize the heterogeneous landscape of hospital legislation in the various federal states. International experts will present their experience, ideas and visions to provide the fundamentals for a fast and successful cloud adoption strategy that complies with highest security and industry standards. Selected companies will display products and solutions and offer opportunities for joined projects.
